HomeSafe is an Augmented Reality (AR) mobile app that uses iOS’s Room Plan API and YOLO object detection algorithm to provide in-door accessibility assessment for older adults and people on wheelchairs.

Parenta (2025)
Parenta is an AI chatbot that can provide parenting advises. It is a portable smart speaker (just like Amazon Echo) that is placed in common areas of a household. Parents can initiate chats by saying “Hi Anna!” and start asking parenting related questions.

QUTgo (2019)
QUTgo is a gamified, physical activity tracking application meant for workplaces. It ‘nudges’ employees to take longer routes in their daily routines; and provides daily challenges.

Picalilly (2013)
Picalilly is a social photo sharing application that uses geo-locking feature to enable sharing in geo-restricted locations. It enables playful interactions between group members.

ShedBox (2022)
ShedBox is a storytelling application designed for the members of Sunnybank Men’s Shed. The application allows members to post a 3-5 minute audio stories and a photo that can be viewed as a story.

VR Home Builder (2022)
The VR home builder allows individuals to co-create a virtual home for people who struggle with housing crisis. The application is tool that researchers and social workers can use to communicate with their participants.

SHED (2022)
SHED (Shed Hex Environment Display) is a Calm Technology that reacts to activity and noise levels in an environment. Based on sensor data, it creates variety of patterns on the hex display in real-time to indicate the level of activity in the space. The application is developed to enable a level of playfulness within a group of older men and to help them moderate their physical activities.

iHub (2021)
iHub is a mobile app designed and developed by Sonali Hedditch (my PhD student) and the team of SisterWorks. The application provides a visual guide to refugee and migrant women to attain income-generating skills as well as provide them lessons around cooking and household chores. The app provide interactive tutorials and lets them engage with other members.

DhanaLabha (2019)
DhanaLabha is a mobile micro-finance app that allows individuals to manage payments through their mobile phones. The application was developed within a Sri Lankan context. The app show payment history of participants in a colour-coded interface which allows participants to easy showcase their efficiency towards micro-finance lenders.

CAM (2011)
CAM (Cooperative Artefact Memory) is a mobile application that allows designers to collaboratively store relevant information onto their physical design objects in the form of messages, annotations and external web links.

StoryMate (2017)
StoryMate is simple tool that allows a non-profit community organization to support their clients through storytelling. The application allows Communify Queensland’s clients to share stories related to their experiences

MathApp (2017)
MathApp is a gamified tablet-based application designed for primary school students in rural Sri Lanka for learning mathematics. It uses localized metaphors and cultural narratives to teach number operations, algebra and measurements.

Smart Vacuum (2011)
Smart Vacuum is a Smart Material Interface that changes the color of its surface when it detects dust on the floor.

Project Management (2021)
A web-based project management application built for Sunnybank Men’s Shed. The application allows shed members to manage their woodworking projects and coordinate activities across multiple members. Since year 2021, this application has been in use.

Panorama (2007)
Panorama is a social noticeboard in an office environment, where employees can post photos and videos.
